I want to tell you all some exciting news…..some of you have heard it already: it’s about the…..

EUROPEAN STAR WARS FAN ALLIANCE

It was formed because of my visit to Poland and my interview with Star Wars Turkey. I “introduced” these groups to each other groups - and they decided to form an official Alliance! Since then, the Star Wars Fan Club of Belgium has joined, and other countries may join too.

The groups exchange news with each other, and many new friendships have been made.

To give you an example of what’s happening, here’s a link to Star Wars Turkey’s new podcast. It’s in English, and after the fun introduction, they talk about what’s happening in the Star Wars world in Poland, Turkey and Belgium:

Other news: after 32 years as an actor, with lots of experience in theatre, TV and commercials, I’m happy to tell you that I’ve got parts in 2 major films being made here in London. My parts are very small, and could be edited or cut, but I don’t care about any of that, because these are great jobs to get, they’re fantastic credits for my CV - and it means working with very talented people. And it also means my face will be seen on the Big Screen for the first time. You see, even at the age of 58, an actor’s working life isn’t over!

I’ve already filmed my part in CHATROOM, directed by Japanese horror director Hideo Nakata. I loved his 1998 film RING (RINGU) and DARK WATER from 2003. RING was successfully re-made by Hollywood as THE RING and THE RING 2, and Hideo will be directing THE RING 3 next year.

I think CHATROOM will be a controversial film, and I play a very creepy character in it. It stars a lot of up-and-coming young actors, including one called Aaron Johnson who told me he has just made a film in Hollywood, and he also played the young John Lennon in a new film called NOWHERE BOY. I had a great time working with Nakata and hope to work with him again one day. He knows about my Star Wars work and agreed to have a photo taken with me to show to Star Wars fans when the film comes out (not before then, as I’m in costume in the photo.)

The other film will be of special interest to Star Wars fans because it stars Keira Knightley. It’s called LONDON BOULEVARD, and is totally a Hollywood film even though it’s being made here in London. It’s being directed by Oscar-winner William THE DEPARTED Monahan and photographed by Oscar-winner Chris Menges. I’ll be playing an undertaker in it in scenes with the other star of the film, Colin Farrell. Again, it’s a very, very small part, but I’m thrilled to be working with all these incredibly talented people. I film my scenes in 2 weeks time. I emphasise that my parts in both these films are small, though important, and I’m thrilled to have got them.
